Open-source Licences
Last updated: 4 October 2026
PageJoy uses open-source software, including libheif and libde265 supplied as separate files. This page identifies those parts and explains where their notices, licence texts and corresponding source can be found.
1. What this page covers
PageJoy provides its tools at pagejoy.app. Some software parts are licensed by their authors under open-source licences. Those licences govern your rights in those parts. Our Terms of Service do not remove those rights.
The complete release inventory is /photo/licences for Photo and the component and notice list below for the other tools. It covers the browser-delivered files, plugin server components, wrappers, dependencies, fonts, assets and any modified code included in release the software and component versions listed on this page, with legal information dated 4 October 2026.
2. Components delivered to your browser

Upstream projects are libheif and libde265. Their current main-branch library headers specify LGPL version 3 or a later version: libheif header and libde265 header. This identifies current upstream terms. It does not identify the version in our build.
3. Licence texts and notices
The complete licence texts and notices supplied with our release are at PDF tool notice pack, Photo notices, and Templates font notices: Inter, Inter Tight, IBM Plex Mono, Manrope, Work Sans, Source Sans 3, Source Serif 4, IBM Plex Sans, Montserrat, Lato, Noto Sans, Space Grotesk, Fraunces, Nunito, Caveat, Archivo Black, Libre Baskerville, Josefin Sans, Cormorant Garamond, Courier Prime, Quicksand, Patrick Hand. If a link is unavailable, contact support@pagejoy.app and identify the component and release. Our approved alternative source-supply arrangement is we help restore access to the exact source links or provide the required corresponding material through support; this contact route is not represented as a formal written source offer.
5. Replacing or relinking LGPL components
The LGPL protects the ability to modify its libraries. LGPL version 3 section 4 sets conditions for combined works, including notices, licence delivery and either a suitable shared-library arrangement or material that permits recombination or relinking. Installation information may also be required in the circumstances described by that licence.
Our instructions for replacing or relinking the browser libraries are /photo/licences, including the exact runtime, source and build links and instructions for an interface-compatible replacement. The files needed for the approved route are /photo/licences, including the exact runtime, source and build links and instructions for an interface-compatible replacement. Any required installation instructions are /photo/licences, including the exact runtime, source and build links and instructions for an interface-compatible replacement.
To the extent the applicable LGPL requires it, our terms permit modifying the covered library portions and reverse engineering to debug those modifications. Other open-source rights also remain available under their licences.
6. Warranties and other rights
The relevant open-source licence states the authors' warranty terms for their code. Those terms do not remove statutory consumer rights against the supplier of PageJoy, or commitments that we separately make under our service terms.
Codec patent rights and other third-party rights can be separate from an open-source copyright licence.
